PASTORAL WORK WITH REFUGEES AND MIGRANTS
The first event of the series "Liturgy after the liturgy", which is organized by the Holy Metropolis of France (Ecumenical Patriarchate) in collaboration with the Volos Academy for Theological Studies, will take place on Thursday, December 14, at 7 p.m. CET (Paris time) . It will be a lecture on “Pastoral work with refugees and migrants” and it will be delivered by Fr. Heikki Huttunen from Helsinki (Orthodox Church of Finland). The lecture will be preceded by an introduction by the director of Volos Academy, Dr. Pantelis Kalaitzidis. The series of lectures "Liturgy after the liturgy" is a part of the catechesis for adults provided by the Holy Metropolis of France, which takes place every Thursday, aiming at a deeper understanding of the Old and New Testaments, the Divine Liturgy, and the theology of the Fathers, and the exploration of the various aspects of the presence of the Orthodox Church in the contemporary world.
The next event of the series will be the lecture of Athanasios N. Papathanasiou (Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Synaxis") on January 25, same time, with the topic "The issue of social justice in the Church Fathers". Other topics that will be addressed in this year’s events include "mission", "the Eucharist and the participation of the laity", "the work of Saint Maria Skobtsova", "war, peace, and reconciliation", "the unity of Christians and humanity", and more.
