A Greek-Iranian Interfaith Webinar was held on September 7th, 2020 in the frame of interfaith dialogue between Orthodox Christianity and Islam, initiated by the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs as well as with the Volos Academy for Theological Studies. The Webinar, which had the character of a pre-conference meeting of an interfaith conference in Tehran, which was impossible to take place due to the spread of coronavirus, was prefaced by the Cultural Counsellor of the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Mahdi Nik Khak Ghomi.

Thirteen academic institutions from eleven countries are working on the establishment of a permanent European Research Infrastructure on Religious Studies, named RESILIENCE. Yesterday (September 9) they submitted an application for the Research Infrastructure to be included in the ESFRI Roadmap 2021. The inclusion of RESILIENCE in this Roadmap will assure partners that a framework to actually start the preparation phase of the infrastructure is in place.

This way, Volos Academy pursues a stronger connection of its theological research with our (digital) everyday life, a better dissemination of theological reasoning beyond the academic sphere, and also a spreading of the visual aspects of church life, and, last not least, the development of dialogue on the various issues that emerge
The restrictions imposed upon our movements this year, in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19, made us search for substitutes for the services of the Holy Week; sound recordings, photographs, videotapes. Live streaming from churches has become the latest craze. For sure, no recording or transmission is equivalent to the actual temple worship, but the current situation provides an opportunity for thinking back on what we have experienced in the churches the previous years.

In the aftermath of the Conference “Politics, Society and Culture in Orthodox Theology in a Global Age”, on Wednesday, February 12, Fadi Nasr from Lebanon had a meeting with members of the Youth Association of the Holy Metropolis of Demetrias, and presented the activities of the Orthodox Youth Movement of the Church of Antioch, of which he is currently General Secretary.
